Open any app where you can type. Write a sentence, select it, and press Ctrl+C+C (Ctrl, then C twice). The toolbar's status light pulses while it works, usually under three seconds, and your text is replaced in place. See the first-five-minutes walkthrough.

Anywhere you can select text and type on Windows: browsers, Slack, Teams, Outlook, Word, Notion, IDEs, CRMs, even old internal tools. If Ctrl+C works there, BetterCopy works there. Browse the tested app list.

BetterCopy is tuned for real work messages, not articles. With Optimized for Speed set to On, Fast is best up to 40 words, Smart up to 45, and Manual up to 85 words per pass. If you switch it Off in Account, BetterCopy allows up to 300 words with slower enhancement. The under three seconds average was measured on 30 word messages. For long passages, split into chunks or use the Refine flow. Blog posts, essays, and manuscripts are outside what it's built for.

Fast fixes typos, grammar, and clarity, usually in under three seconds on short text. Smart also reads the context around your text and adapts the tone. Manual follows an instruction you type, like "make it shorter," and puts the result on your clipboard so you decide where to paste it. With Optimized for Speed On, their best length is roughly 40 / 45 / 85 words. With it Off, you can run up to 300 words with slower speed. Switch modes from the toolbar or with Ctrl+Alt+F / S / M. No, that's the core design rule. BetterCopy fixes what's weak (typos, fog, filler) and preserves your meaning, tone, and personal style. Read more about voice preservation. If a result ever drifts from your voice, undo it with Ctrl+Z like any edit.

Three usual causes: (1) BetterCopy isn't running, look for the toolbar or the mini b; (2) another clipboard tool is intercepting the double-copy, try the alternate shortcut Ctrl+]; (3) the app you're in blocks simulated input (rare, some games/VMs). If none of those, restart BetterCopy from the toolbar menu. Check the app compatibility notes.

Yes, open the toolbar menu → Settings → Shortcuts. Every binding is remappable, and conflicts with other software are flagged as you type the new combo. See the shortcut atlas for the defaults.

Drag it by the handle (the dotted grip on the left). Click the italic b to collapse it to mini mode. In Settings → Appearance you can lower its opacity, hide individual buttons, or hide it completely, shortcuts keep working either way. Full tour on the toolbar page.

A Pro feature that skips selection: end your sentence with .f, .s, .a, or .m and press Shift+Enter. The trigger is removed and the sentence is enhanced in place. Try the trigger live. With .m you can add the instruction inline: .m make it friendlier.

Yes. Pro’s Local LLM runs enhancement on your own Windows machine, so your text stays local and cloud credits are not consumed. It needs a compatible local model and more disk space than the standard install. Review the Local LLM details.

Privacy Shield detects sensitive values such as emails, names, phone numbers, and keys before processing. It replaces them with placeholders, restores the real values locally afterward, and keeps the sensitive details out of the model request. Read the privacy tools overview.

One enhancement costs one credit, regardless of length or mode. Failed enhancements cost nothing. Free refills to 100 monthly; Pro refills to 1,000. Local LLM enhancements (Pro) use zero credits. Compare the Free and Pro allowances.

Toolbar menu → your balance is at the top. You can also set daily and monthly guardrails there so a heavy day never empties your month. The feature guide explains the guardrails.

Everything is in the app: toolbar menu → Account → Plan. Upgrades apply instantly; cancellations keep Pro until the period ends, then drop you to Free automatically. Payments run through Stripe, we never see your card. See pricing and billing.

Sign out and back in first, the entitlement usually syncs on login. Still stuck? Contact support from the app → Help → Contact with the email you paid with, and it'll be fixed with priority. Billing details are on the pricing page.

Text is sent securely for enhancement and returned to you, it's not used to train models without your explicit optional consent, and there's a training consent toggle in Settings you control. On Pro with Local LLM enabled, text never leaves your machine at all. Read the full text handling policy.

Before processing, it detects emails, names, phone numbers, and keys in your text and swaps them for placeholders like [EMAIL_1]. After enhancement, the real values are restored locally. The sensitive data never travels. See Pro privacy features.

Yes, Pro's Local LLM runs enhancement on your own hardware. It's a bigger install and slightly slower on older machines, but nothing leaves your computer and credits aren't consumed. Start with the Local LLM overview.

It's probably in mini mode (look for a small floating b) or moved to another monitor. Press the toolbar shortcut or restart the app, it reappears centered. Position resets are in Settings → Appearance → Reset position. The toolbar guide shows every control.

Check your connection first, Fast mode normally returns in under three seconds on a typical 30 word message; longer selections take longer. If Account → Optimized for Speed is Off, slower enhancement is expected because longer text up to 300 words is allowed. Corporate proxies and VPNs can add latency. On Pro, switching to Local LLM removes the network from the equation entirely. Try the live playground.

Ctrl+Z restores the original, enhancement is a normal edit in the target app's undo history. This usually happens when the selection changed between copy and enhance; select again and re-run. The first-five-minutes guide shows the intended flow.
